Network Marketing is a fantastic industry. It is the one way that anyone can start their own business for very little money down, with no education or experience, no employees, minimal monthly overhead, and have the opportunity to earn unlimited income. It’s truly unique in our society, and therefore it has been an extremely popular home-based business for the average person to start for many, many years.
However, there are some pitfalls:
It’s not an easy business to be successful at. It’s easy to start, that’s why so many fail at it. Because it doesn’t cost much to get started, people see it as a way to get rich, not knowing that it takes work. Not necessarily hard, unpleasant work, but work nonetheless. So what happens is that they sign up and start building the business. They might sign up a couple of their friends or family right away because of their excitement level. They might get 4 or 5 to commit (remember, it doesn’t cost much to get started). They might even get a check or two, and they think they’ve got it made! Then, reality sets in.
First, someone cancels their autoship. Then someone else. Then, their best friend says, “You know, I thought I could do this, but I can’t”. Then he drops out. Pretty soon, that new networker only has 2 people left in the business. And the checks are few and far between.
You’ve gone through most of your warm list, so you start to invest a little money in cold leads, newpaper ads, or postcards. The money that’s going out is starting to exceed the money coming in. By a lot. You talk to your upline who says, “This is a long-term business. It takes a while to build it up. And it’s going to cost you a little money at first, but in 3 to 5 years you’ll be sitting pretty”. And you know what? They’re right. But where does the money come from?
Now’s the time to fish or cut bait. Are you going to bail, or stick it out?
You could run up your credit cards, but there’s a good chance you got into this business to pay those credit cards off, so that would be counter-productive. You could cancel your autoship, and not buy any promotional tools to keep costs to a minimum. But if you do that, you’ll never build your business.
Or you could monetize. Imagine if you could have $500 or $1000 per month coming in to pay for your expenses, and maybe even give you a little profit to boot. Would that make it a little easier to stick it out?
Well, that’s what most of the new successful marketers are doing right now. They’re monetizing their websites and businesses to allow them to sustain longer until their primary business gets established. And guess what? It’s not that hard!
Monetizing is a major part of the system outlined it The Renegade Network Marketer by Ann Sieg, and taught in a step-by-step manner in The Renegade University, an online training site designed to take even the most novice computer user through the steps necessary to monetize their network marketing business.
